How does the 7-day free window work?
When a chapter's audio is rendered, a 7-day countdown starts. Anyone — subscriber or not — can listen to that chapter for free during that week. After day 7, the chapter becomes subscriber-only. New chapters keep showing up free; the ones that age out keep playing for subscribers.
What about chapters that were already out before this launched?
Grandfathered. Every chapter rendered before the paywall existed stays permanently free. We're not retroactively walling off anything you already had access to.
Can I cancel?
Anytime, in two clicks via Stripe's Customer Portal (linked from your account page). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — no refunds on the partial month, but you keep access through the end.
Is the text of the chapters free?
Yes. The /seasons/[id]/read view that surfaces the prose of every chapter is free for everyone. The paywall is on the per-chapter audio only.
Why $5/mo?
It's a price floor that lets the show be sustainable for the listener as well as the studio — accessible enough that subscribing is an easy yes if you've enjoyed even a single season, and structured around the cost of making the show rather than a competitor's anchor.
Is there an annual option?
Yes. $48 a year prepays 12 months for the price of 10 — that's 2 months free vs. monthly (Save $12). Toggle it on the subscribe screen. Same access either way.
Does this also include HiveJournal premium?
Yes. Graphene+ subscribers unlock every paid HiveJournal feature at the same time — premium handwriting fonts, doubled monthly drops, and everything else listed under HiveJournal premium. One subscription covers both products. You don't need to subscribe separately and you won't be charged twice.
Does this include Graphene Studio (the audiobook production tools)?
Yes — Studio access is part of Graphene+. Studio is currently in a closed beta with a small number of named authors while we tune the pipeline and cost model. Graphene+ subscribers get priority on the invite queue as we open more seats. If you want to be on the early list, mention it when you subscribe and we'll bump you up. Does it work in podcast clients (Apple, Spotify)?
Phase 1 ships a public RSS feed that includes chapters within their 7-day free window. A subscriber-only feed for podcast clients is on the roadmap; for now, the web player is the way to hear the back catalog.
